Coherent Breathing: Harmonium Aum

9.95

On this piece, a chorus of Om (aum) comingles with Susannah’s harmonium in a 20 minute session for your Coherent Breathing practice.  This can be adaptable to slow vinyasa, pranayama and restorative yoga in a group or individual setting.

“Coherent Breathing” describes a breath practice where we take five full breaths per minute. The inhalation and exhalation are paced to be six seconds each.   This breath cycle has been found to be very helpful to reduce blood pressure, increase heart-rate variability and promote a balance between the adverse reactions from Sympathetic Nervous System (fight/flight/freak/freeze) and the beneficial aspects of the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest + digest/tend+befriend). A six second inhale followed by a six second exhale is the optimal pace to cultivate stress resilience.

From a listener: "Breathing worked. I got stuck in DC for 4 extra hours last night, and to calm down and just be, I popped on your music and got though it—actually it made the time more useful as I got into a calm state and worked out some stuff mentally. Sitting and calmly meditating on things helped with some good clarity." T.P.
